Rabbi Azose received his Rabbinic Ordination from Beis Medrash LeTorah – Hebrew Theological College and graduated from Roosevelt University with a degree in Psychology. He served as the beloved rabbi of the Sephardic Congregation in Evanston, Illinois for nearly four decades. A founding member of the first Sephardic Hebrew Day School in the Midwest and former board member of the Association of Sephardic Rabbis, Rabbi Azose has been a beacon of light for Sephardic Jewry and has helped the Jewish community at large appreciate the magnificent heritage of Sephardim.

Rabbi Azose has served in many community leadership roles: President of the Chicago Rabbinical Council, Chairman of the Association of Torah Advancement, and Midwest Vice-President of the Rabbinical Council of America. He is a founding member of The ARK, founding member of the World Organization of Jews from Arab Countries (Chicago Chapter), former Board Member of the American Sephardi Federation, former Chicago Director of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, and former Midwest Regional Director of NCSY.

Rabbi Azose has been a most respected teacher and knowledgeable scholar. He has taught Bible, Codes and Talmud at the Hebrew Theological College, Jewish History at Fasman Yeshiva High School, Ida Crown Jewish Academy and Blitstein Institute of the Hebrew Theological College. He also served as the Educational Director of Congregation K.I.N.S. He has led numerous trips to Israel, Spain and Turkey and has written “Riding the Storm: A Brief History of the Jews of Spain” and “Colon: Was He or Wasn’t He?” Rabbi Azose and his devoted wife Bonnie are the proud parents of Rabbi Yaakov, also ordained by the Hebrew Theological College, and Orah; Meira (Mimi) and Rabbi David Meyer, who reside in London; and Nehama and Dovid Abraham, who reside in Oak Park, Michigan. They are also the proud grandparents of many precious grandchildren.

The Azoses made Aliyah to Israel in 2010 and presently reside in Jerusalem.
